Ergün Architecture is a design studio established in 1995 in Istanbul. Adopting a collective design approach, the company aims to generate fresh ideas in the fields of urban design, architecture and interior design.
Since its inception, Ergün Architecture has design over 100 projects implemented in a wide range of scales and functions. Environmental context and urban integrity is an important part of their design process. While keeping the spatial design focused on user experience, the aim is to create structures and spaces which stimulate enthusiasm and interest in user’s perception . Combination of realistic and rational approaches with sensorial perspectives in Ergün Architecture’s design practice brings feasible and aesthetic structures to fruition.
The team has received various awards in the national architectural competition scene. Buildings such as; ‘Mermerler Plaza’, ‘NidaKule Göztepe’, ‘Nidapark Besiktas’, ‘Palladium Antakya’, ‘Pendik Cebeci Residences’, ‘3s Firuze Houses received recognition through many national and international platforms, such as the European Property Awards, the World Architecture Community Awards, the Sign Of The City Awards, and the Arkitera Architectural Yearbook Selection.
Ergün Architecture contribute to urban culture by considering all production processes of custom-oriented spaces and living environments within their own context.
Dr. Ender Ergün was born in Niğde in 1946. Graduating from Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1970, he completed his doctoral studies at Aachen RWTH in 1981. Between 1971-1981 he worked in Düsseldorf, in Germany's leading architectural offices such as RKW and Dansard, Kalenborn & Partner. Ender Ergün was an academic faculty member at the department of architecture at Yildiz Technical University between 1980 and 1985. He continued his partnership in PETA Architecture office until 1995. In the same year he founded Ergün Architecture office together with Cavit Ergün. Over the course of his architectural practice, he has won over 15 awards, including five 1st place awards in national, international and invited competitions. Ender Ergün still continues to produce ideas and projects actively in the office and transfers his experience to the next generations.
Cavit Ergün
Cavit Ergün was born in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1975. He graduated from Yildiz Technical University with a master's degree in 2000 in Architecture. He also completed his second MA in Music Theory and Composition at İTÜ MİAM. He founded Ergün Architecture in 1995 with Ender Ergün and took an active role in the establishment of the office's fundamental structures. Cavit Ergün works on music and architecture simultaneously. The cross pollination of his professional experiences continue to give rise to new perspectives in his professional life.
Eser Ergün
Eser Ergün was born in Istanbul in 1983. He graduated from Galatasaray High School in 2002 and from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Architecture in 2007. He completed his master’s degree in Istanbul Bilgi University Architectural Design Program in 2009. He joined Ergün Architecture as a partner and carried out many projects in various scales & functions. The projects he produced during his architectural practice have won several awards in national, international and invited competitions. In parallel with his office work, he teaches architectural design at Bilgi University and Maltepe University. Currently, he leads the team for Ergün Architecture and inspires innovation and brings an environmental sensitivity to the work at hand.
Esat Özkan
Esat Özkan was born in 1945 in Ankara. He graduated from Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy in 1972. After working experience in Germany between 1972-1975, he worked as a lecturer at Yildiz Technical University between 1975-1981. He founded CEDAŞ construction company, which mainly produce interior architecture projects and managed implementation processes. Esat Özkan, who has extensive experience in interior design, materials, details and furniture, also specializes in organizing the links between design and application during his work in project management. He continues his professional work in the interior architecture department, which he founded with Zeynep Ergün in 2012.
Zeynep Yapar Ergün
Zeynep Yapar Ergün was born in Istanbul in 1984. She graduated from Istanbul Kültür University in 2006. She has been involved in the project and application process of many different architectural and interior design studios such as EAA, Çırakoğlu Architects, Polimeks and Sia Moore .
She joined Ergün Architecture in 2012 and founded the interior design department with Esat Özkan. Some of the projects during her practice of interior architecture won various awards in national and international competitions. In parallel with her architectural practice, Zeynep currently works with children that have rare diseases and is one of the founders of the EDIÇO association. She continues to research and raise awareness about accessibility and design for all.
